When we were in Frankfurt we went to
the Museum for Modern Art and saw the exhibition of Rineke
Dijkstra. She took videos and pictures of people growing up, dancing,
discussing, trying... She mostly did this in a well known club in Liverpool called the Krazy House. She took pieces from the collection of the museum of which
she thought match or contrast her own approach and put them next to her own work. We had a little guided tour and
the woman told us about the process of setting up an exibition. Rineke Dijkstra
for example requested very special rooms to show her movies. Not being able to
fullfill all her wishes, they had to build some spaces within their spaces. So
the visitors would walk into a room to find another room that has been put in
there.
